Day 11 - 13: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Day 11 Nelspruit - Victoria Falls
Flight time 1:30 hours
You are woken early for your last game drive. In the lodge, before your departure, a delicious breakfast awaits you. Bid your ranger farewell and drive back to Nelspruit where your aircraft and crew are waiting to welcome you on board again. While enjoying a delicious lunch, you fly to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. The rest of the day you can enjoy the charm of the Victoria Falls Hotel. Stay overnight at this world famous hotel with the mighty waterfall in its backyard.
The Scotsman David Livingstone became the first Westerner to discover Victoria Falls, in 1855. He changed the original name Mosi-oa-Tunya or "the smoke that thunders" and named the falls after Queen Victoria. "No other views in England can surpass the beauty of this" and "Such lovely images must have watched with admiration the angels in their flight", he later wrote.
Victoria Falls is often seen as the largest waterfall on the planet. So it is no coincidence that it is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
You can walk along the idyllic private pathways from the hotel to the Victoria Falls in just 10 minutes.
Day 12 Flight of Angels
Today you can explore the waterfalls in the most spectacular way. First you take a walk along the falls with an expert guide. Then you take a helicopter flight over the falls: "The Flight of Angels!”.
The enormous power of Victoria Falls is an impressive sight from any perspective, but a helicopter ride can truly capture the majesty of the falls. The light of the sun and the spraying of the water create a beautiful array of colours. It will become clear why David Livingstone described the view of the falls as 'a sight so wonderful that Angels must have gazed down on it in flight'.
In the afternoon, you take a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi. Enjoy a drink with all the beauty the flora and fauna provide.
